For free events, Shindigg is 100% free to use.
For paid events, Shindigg costs $1 + 2.5% per ticket. Most event organizers choose to pass this nominal ticketing fee onto the ticket buyer, meaning Shindigg is free for you to use as an organizer. You can also choose to absorb this fee if you do not want to pass it onto the ticket buyer.
Shindigg supports 2 different payment processing options, Stripe or Paypal. Both Stripe and Paypal charge a fee for collecting credit card payments. In the case of Stripe, the fee is 2.9% + $0.30, whereas Paypal's fees range from 2.9%-3.5% + $0.30 depending on what credit card is used. Shindigg recommends Stripe, since besides being cheaper, it is significantly easier for you and your customers to use. Learn more about choosing a payment processor.
If you choose to pass the fee onto the ticket buyer, by default Shindigg will add the credit card fee that you are charged by Stripe or Paypal into the fees the ticket buyer pays so that you as the organizer will receive the full amount of the ticket after all fees are deducted. This can be changed if your prefer so that you can absorb the credit card processing fee charged by Stripe or Paypal instead of passing it onto the user.
As an example, let's say you were selling a $20 ticket and chose to have the ticket buyer pay the fees (the default). Here's how the pricing would break down:
Ticket price: | $20.00 | |
Total ticketing fee: | $2.45 | Shindigg ticketing fee portion ($1 + 2.5%) = $1.50 Credit card fee charged by Stripe or Paypal ($0.30 + 2.9%) = $0.95 |
Total amount your customer pays: | $22.45 | |
Total amount you receive after all fees are deducted: | $20.00 |
